Onslow County Beekeepers Association

Purpose

The Onslow County Beekeepers Association (OCBA) is a charter member of the North Carolina State Beekeepers Association. Our goal is to teach and encourage better methods among the beekeepers of Onslow County and the surrounding area, to promote cooperation and sharing, and to reach a common understanding regarding our challenges and the solution.

2023 Beginner's Shortcourse

Ready to discover more about Apis mellifera, the European honeybee? Learn about bee biology, hive & pest management, and prepare to become a Certified Beekeeper!

Course Dates: Jan. 21, Jan. 28, Feb. 4 & Feb. 11. Plus, mentoring in the Apiary throughout the year.

Time & Location: 8am - 12pm. Onslow County Government Center 234 NW Corridor Blvd., Jacksonville

Cost: $65, includes: Course materials, annual membership in County Beekeeping Assoc., annual membership in State Beekeeping Assoc., and monthly mentoring

2022 Beginners Shortcourse

OCBA held its 2022 Beginners Beekeeping Short Course in March/April of this year. Participants from around Onslow County and surrounding counties, gathered to discover more about the European honey bee, Apis mellifera. Participants prepared to become Certified Beekeepers (entry level) with NCSBA and learned about bee biology, hive & pest management, gained valuable hands-on experience in the Apiary and much more!

Association Meetings

The Onslow County Beekeepers Association (OCBA) membership meetings occur the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 7:00pm - 9:00pm at the Onslow County Multi-Purpose Complex
4024 Richlands Hwy, Jacksonville, NC

Meetings include educational components for beginner and experienced beekeepers, a question-and-answer session, association business and announcements. Raffle and 50/50 drawings are available to members only.

Members are invited to come early and mingle with other beekeepers.
